the .msi version is a "complete" version that someone finish it up. there are some "packages" that comes even with system sounds and wallpapers. but the "original" unfinished version is just a .rar file with the clean theme files in it, nothing to install, just copy to the themes folder, so no mess with the OS, you can always pick another windows theme just like changing socks

Just discovered this. I wish I'd known about it before; I'm surprised that I've never come across it before. It makes my Mini all that much more awesome looking.

To clarify Davidco's comments, you can drop official Microsoft themes into your Themes folder at:
C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\"theme_of_your_choice"

Cheers!

I did all that and it didn't change a thing. I uncompressed the file and copied it to the correct folder/correct path. In fact I saw and selected the theme under Display Properties. I feel like dumb a**. I also tried the .exe...nada. I double clicked it after uncompressing it. The only thing black was my desktop which I changed. :? This couldn't be simpler so I don't know why it's not working.

Edit: I got it to work but I have no idea how I got it going. I think I am over tired. ops:
