Basic stuff, which you can get more info on by reading/googling around this forum:
- Uninstall stuff that you don't need. McAfee, MS works, whatever.
- Use msconfig or autoruns or whatever to disable all the startup stuff you don't need. Several posts listing most of the things you can disable.
- Disable various services you don't need. There are various guides on this. In particular turn off indexing.
- Use bootvis to optimize your boot sequence.
Then be careful about anything new you install that might put stuff in your startup. Check periodically.
You might want to consider uncompressing the boot drive if you have a fast enough SSD
and its big enough to support you doing this. Check the forum for benchmarks before/after.
