Default How to: Re-image your Mini9 from Dells image for your system - 12-10-2008, 04:51 PM

These directions will walk you through getting a copy of the dell image for your system, making a bootable flash drive, moving the image to a bootable flash drive, and making it where it will reimage your computer automatically, in similar manner to how the Dell Ubuntu image on the Dell FTP site...

Code:
2:18:15 PM Sup_Kanika_100615 Even if you arrange an srdvd you would not be able to use it
2:19:12 PM Sup_Kanika_100615 Because SRdvd shipped with a particular system is for that system and the system on which no image is shipped its not at all possible to install the srdvd
and then...

Code:
2:40:03 PM Francisco Rosello
but is ok, i will wait to get another service tag and i will come back another day, ok? thanks for the concern, and sorry my poor english :D
2:41:03 PM Sup_Kanika_100615 No problems you can always get back to us with the right service tag for 910 which has image
so i need another service tag from anyone thad got already the SR DVD or SR CD, the part number stand for DVD, please anyone?

from 1:22pm to 2:46pm, standing still with my open window in this cold weather just to get my neighbor wi-fi signal properly

I would love to give you mine for that purpose, but there would be more at stake for me if I did - If anyone else is successful, If you can provide your session ID. If no one else is successful or post in the next 2 days, if you like, I will contact you and will request them for you, so we can get a session ID (which just has a transcript, gives no authorization for speaking on an account).

Also, the SRCD and SRDVD share the same part number, they decide which to send based on how big the image is, and that part about only having it for systems that ship with an image resotre is a line of bull. They have it for all systems, so they can ship you a Factory Imaged Hard Drive as well.

P.S. If ONE person would not like to wait, and does not mind me sharing their session ID with the community, PM me your Service Tag, name of purchaser, and address, and I will get it ordered for you (This statement will be replaced with thanks to the person who did it as soon as it happens, or if someone posts a session ID before that)

I'll PM you my ID soon as it arrives, it is supposed to show up tomorrow.
In the meantime, if someone would be so kind as to do the following:
If you already have the SRCD or DVD, generate a md5 hash file for your discs

I would love to, but the disks are unique. In the image itself, I have found 10+ copies of my service tag - the only way to test it is to overwrite your hard drive. - a MD5 wont help to ensure the image is good, unless you want md5s on the files in the image. If that will help, let me know.

Can you link to this statement on the Dell support site ?

Thanks,

coffee_mogul

site is https://support.dell.com/support/top.../backupcd_form
Its a form to request the disks for what was factory installed on your system

however, all that site gets you is the reinstall disks. speaking from experience.

out of your warranty time i don't think so. the part number i suppose is the same, is different software depending of your product (and your service tag), but the part number i think is the same.
