Hey, I wanted to install the newly released developers version of Windows 8 onto the Duo. It seems as if Windows 8 should work on a touch screen laptop.

How do I go about installing Windows 8 on a separate partition?

Also downloading, gonna see what this like, this could be a good thread to watch for people who has good success stories.

I have a external DVD drive and plan on burning and installing clean.

I note that the Dev version requires a dual-layer DVD (aka DVD-9).

Ya just if you want the addon tools, straight install is standard DVD

i installed from usb drive. it installs in less then 30 minutes.
@dasaucemasta, without wanting to sound disrespectful,
if you don't know how to create a second partition, i don't think
that a developpers edition might be your thing.

1st impressions :
system is smooth and quick

several devices don't work : crystal HD, rotation sensor, bluetooth
downloading the win7 drivers to test if they work
- accelleration sensor driver won't install on win8
after a second install, it does install and runs, but no control panel entry.
- crystal hd driver from dell support installs and runs
- nm10 gma3150 driver installs and runs
- broadcom bluetooth driver won't install. testing the atheros now....
atheros wlan and bt driver don't work, need to rollback driver.
- flash 10.3 installs and runs on explorer 10

windows performance index : 3.1 , 4.2 , 3.0 , 2.6 , 7.6



browsing experience in explorer 10 is great, fluid zooming, quick loading pages

I will update after have played with it a bit more
after installing firefox i must say that ie 10 is much better.
So lets hope it will act the same on win 7 when released

I followed the Lifehacker <dawt> com instructions including second partition and USB drive set up. It is working great...although honestly I have not used it yet...my wife is really enjoying though which is a good sign!

I installed the 32 bit version because I was worried about drivers, I have not installed any drivers at all and so far so good. I will update if there are any issues.

First impression...this is what the Duo has needed from the start.

I have a somewhat suspect SSD that I'm going to use to test on W8 on my duo. I'd like to partition it in advance and throw the drivers on it, which leads me to a few questions. If anyone has the answers, I would greatly appreciate it.
1. How big is the Windows 8 footprint after installed?
2. I remember using the 32-bit version of W7 for the duo before, and seem to think there was a reason. I don't remember the reason and have seen mention of the 64-bit version of W8 on the duo. I was going to stick with 32, but if someone could remind my why or why not, that would be swell also.
