Default Windows 7 on Dell Mini 10v - 06-04-2009, 03:30 PM

I have successfully installed Windows 7 RC1 on my Dell Mini 10v. The only unknown device was the battery driver and I downloaded the Mini 10v XP driver from the Dell website which worked fine. I also installed the Synaptics touchpad driver from the Dell website to enable scrolling to work.

I used vLite to install a reduced version and I had about 3GB free on the 8GB (7.5GB actual space) SSD - I had disabled hibernation and reduced the page file to 256MB. After installing Office 2007 SP2 I only had about 1GB free so I compressed the drive to increase the spare space by an additional 1GB.

I managed to install Windows 7 RC1 on my Dell Mini 16GB SSD to use only 3GB using vLite and then disable hibernation page file to 256MB and recycle bin to 256MB and I now have Office 2007 and i'm using just under 3.8GB.

I removed things like languages and drivers for stuff that the Mini 10v obviously wont need like Media Centre and floppy disk support - all the junk really and it works perfect. Printers work, wifi, 3g usb modem...
