Default Windows 7 spyware - 05-16-2009, 10:13 PM

MS has put so much efforts into Windows 7, it's lean and fast. But...

When you start using the OS, you will see that the spyware is everywhere. IE, WMP, Game Folder, there might be more that I am not aware of. OK, you can turn them off, but the if you accept the recommended settings, they are left ON.

It's so sad that a good OS is spoiled by too much spyware.

Eh - I don't consider it spyware when you have to opt in to each feature. The communication is also intended to help you. I don't care for it myself, but I don't use those features (or have not opted in.)

I think it will give users the feeling that they are being watched. And all these data collected is used to generate more profit for MS. I think they should all be turned off by default, unless the user opt in.

Default Not a spy ware - 05-17-2009, 06:27 AM

I don't think they are spy ware. They are for service information and in case a user may need help with problems on the program. But still, you do have an option to turn them off. So it is not a big deal at all.

Those services ARE all off by default, unless you opt in. Microsoft is quite good about that. There's nothing wrong with them "recommending" that you turn them on, and it lists the items specifically in the descriptions of the recommended settings.

It's a Release Candidate.

What are you honestly expecting from this, a free OS?

Spyware, lol.

agree with above, RC not RETAIL, NOT FREE, NOT SPYWARE, Microsoft needs to be sure everything is working for retail release.
