Shrink Windows 7 to fit on Asus Eee PC 4GB SDD or any netbook » multimolti’s Techblog
To all the people that say you need a 16gb or larger ssd, try reading this article. I have OS X and Win7 installed on my 16gb ssd. My Win7 install is on a 5gb partition with around 1.5gb free.

Default Vlite parental control issues? - 05-30-2009, 06:20 PM

I used the rickatnight guide as well. Even grabbed his vlited iso image. It is working great and with firefox, logmein, a few updates and a small game or two I'm only using about 5.7GB of my 16 - really trying to decide if I want to wipe windows 7 to give OSX a chance. Never used it before, but that was kind of the point of getting the mini in the first place.

Will be ordering a 32GB ST this weekend to run both I think.

The only problem I have with rickatnight's vlite install is that i can't run plants vs zombies. It tells me to enable parental controls, which arent installed.

I grabbed the vlited image from a certain extremely popular torrent site that starts with 'The'. Just search for dell mini - it is the only vlited torrent that comes up. It states it is specifically for the dell mini. Not sure what's kosher here so I won't post a link. But I assume it is legit since I used the key I got from MS.

Really want to give win7/osx dual booting a go on the 16gb stock stec while waiting to upgrade. Right nowIi have win7 installed with about 8gb free.

Anyone have any recommendations on what sizes to split it up into for this project? Not planing on installing much past the OSes and firefox.

It sounds like osx needs 9gb to be happy.

Thanks!

There are torrents of Win7 out there with malware inserted. If you're going the torrent route, I'd recommend avoiding any whose MD5 hash doesn't match that of the official Microsoft release. www.sevenforums.com is a good place to get hashes. That it accepts your key means nothing.

I have my own unique valid key... this just helps me skip a (long) step from rickatnight11's guide to installing windows 7

AND, that image was upped by rickatnight11 himself, i'm assuming it's the same person
