Default W7 Install from a CD/DVD-ROM Drive - 05-09-2009, 10:42 PM

I am going to discover the answer to my question below Tuesday night right after my new A90 is delivered and I install a new 32GB RunCore SSD and 2 GB RAM in it. Since I am trying to anticipate exactly what to expect, I want to ask this question anyway.

My plan is to install W7 direct from a CD I burned from the downloaded file using a new Samsung Slimline USB DVD/CD-ROM drive (NOT a USB Flashdrive). Can I assume there will be no problem booting and installing off of the CD without doing anything else (save for loading some drivers later)?

There are a many posts discussing techniques for doing the install from a USB flash drive. Since this is from a CD ROM I am assuming none of the concerns or issues associated with making a flash drive work will be a concern.

I assume you burned a DVD, not a CD. No problem at all doing this - the Mini will boot from a USB DVD drive and you can install W7 from it directly.

Worked for me. No problems. Just make sure to enable Legacy USB in Bios ... or you'll never boot from your external CD/DVD drive. ops:

worked for me, just a few issues with the external drive tearing shreds out of the dvds but apart from that works out of the box.
