I *just* installed W7RC on my Inspiron 6000 laptop this morning. While it was installing, I had wondered the same thing and checked this forum, as well as several others. I finally went with Kaspersky (for now), since they have a beta (preview) version of their AV made for Windows 7. It seems to be running well so far, and I'm running it with the windows firewall with no issues. I forgot to look, but I didn't notice that there was any expiration time on it. If I remember, I'll check next time I have the laptop running. You can get Kaspersky for Windows 7 HERE.
Edit: The license for the beta version shows 182 days left, so it appears to be good for six months.

Thanks for the tip about the splash screen![/quote]
You're welcome. There is an undocumented tip that I can't post here but you can Google it.

I was pro-AVG, until I realized that they disable the ability to auto logon to Windows 7 (a bug, most likely). I'm all about the free, so I sought salvation in Avast.
