Default W7 & SSD Alignment - 05-06-2009, 07:30 PM

I am impatiently waiting for my new Vostro A90 to be delivered. I have about four weeks to think about what OS I will be using. The new A90 will have 2 GB Memory and a 32 GB Runcore SSD so I can probably load whatever system (XP Pro, Vista, or W7 RC)I want.

At this momemt in time I am leaning away from XP Pro and toward W7. If I load W7 RC from a disc, using an external DVD/CD optical drive, will it automatically align the 32 GB Runcore SSD or do I have to do this manually?

I'm pretty sure it won't "align" anything. It will create a 100 or 200MB partition at the start where it loads recovery and boot info.

If I'm not mistaken, Windows 7 is more SSD aware, so we don't need to align it like we do with XP.
