After installing the driver and rebooting, the drive never mounts. I followed leeosenton's advice, and that worked quite well. Thanks a ton.

Make sure you go to device manager and click on SD card drive under disk drives and choose update driver tell it not to look for drivers and click that you have the disk point to the cfadisk cab file that has the gear on it and thats it. Make sure you format the SDHC Card in NTFS first. After the drive shows up as a hard disk then reformat the card back to fat32 to speed the card back up.

Is it formatted? Can Windows see it? Did you grab the Hitachi driver?
Ah, I was not reformatting it first. Let me try that...

You should be good to go after it's formatted.

Btw, I never formatted back to FAT 32. Just left it as NTFS.

So, I think the problem I was having is that I did not have the JMicron driver installed prior to upgrading to the Hytachi driver. I had the generic SD Card driver installed. Once I installed the JMicron driver, then upgraded to the Hytachi driver, it worked successfully.

As you can see on page 3 of this thread - using an internal mini PCIe MR-04 card in the WWAN slot will provide you with a fixed SDHC in Win7. I use this to store my music and movies etc.

That looks pretty cool, but using the reader doesn't require cracking the case & soldering. i

That's normal. My desktop has two SATA Raptor hard drives in a RAID 0 and task bar sees them as removable as technically they are removable.
