Hi - My first post!
I have followed the instructions as per the notes and when I boot up it asks to choose usb - all ok.
It then asks me to remove disk/media. If I just press return then it continues with the XP boot up.

I just copied the ISO complete onto a formatted USB drive as per instructions? Any ideas?

I followed Rick's instructions to the letter and it works.

If you don't want to use vlite to cut down the installation, there is another method which seems to have been successful and is discussed here (basically mount the iso and copy over to your USB drive)

Excuse the dumb question. Do I just copy the downloaded W7 iso directley to the formatted USB or do I need to do anything else with it?

You need to mount the iso using something like Daemon tools. Then copy the files and place them on your thumb drive.

BTW, I used your instructions, but after installation, I only had 1 gig left on an 8 gig drive. Something didn't go right with the Vlite editing. I am going to try again tonight after work.

I just discovered if you remove the tablet pc option, you lose the use of the snipping tool. So you might as well remove the snipping tool also.

That's the method I use, but still vLite it from the virtual drive as it seems simpler and faster.

Default 8GB mini 9 Win7 RC1 - 06-23-2009, 05:34 AM

I'm typing this on a white mini 9 8GB SSD, 1GB ram, with the Win7 RC1 installed, I have not been able to get a vlited version to boot up at all it gets stuck at completing installation, i installed the full RC1 disc and was left with 512MB of SSD space, this obviously wasnt satisfactory, so i re-installed the whole RC1 again and this time after the first reboot i booted from 7 disc(USB) and compressed it then completed the install and was left with something like 1.85GB SSD space, i have went in and turned off media center, games, and tablet pc, that didnt really free up too much space though, i have changed a few other things like virtual memory is set to 256MB, trash is 0 delete immediately, anti virus vault is 0 delete immediatelt, i have already installed adobe flash player 10 active x, and flash player plugin, avg anti virus, magic disc, winrar, all the drivers, and apps to get everything(touchpad, SD, etc,) working, and donwloaded and istalled the updates from windows update, and at this point i have 2.11GB available of the orig. 7.15 to start with. Snipping tool works even when i turn off tablet pc function, and media center work fine if i go to program features and turn it on. my only issue is start-up takes well over a minute, not a huge deal but i wish it was faster aside from that, 7 performs quickly and smoothly, on my min, rating got a total score of 2.0, everything was 3.0 or better except desktop performance for windows aero(2.0), and processor(2.2) anyone able to get better scores i would be interested to know how? sorry this kind of took off on me. Long story short I love my mini 9, I cant wait to get a 32GB SSD, so that I can dual boot Win7/Snow Leopard.
