By the way, the temps from my previous post were inaccurate. Apparently I was picking up residual heat from a nearby spaceheater. My temps are currently at 33-34C, only slightly higher than the 30-32 I would get in XP.

edit--scratch that. after looking again it seems to maintain a constant temp of 44c now.
Power Options - Change Plan Settings - Change advanced power settings - Processor power management - System cooling policy

There you'll see the Passive/Active choice.

Ah, thanks. You can do the same thing by selecting *Balanced*, *High Performance*, or *Power Saver* but your way would give you more control over an individual power plan.? again thanks for pointing that out, I hadn't dug that deep in power yet as apparently I am having some issue with wi-fi cuz I get a BSOD about every 2 days now related to the nwifi.sys. and only happens when I try to view flash video in Google Chrome.---I know, I know, don't view flash in G.C.than, right

On a related note, the BSOD is the reason for the temp variables I was getting. When I get the BSOD it SOMETIMES kicks me off my Home profile and onto Public(with no network detection and doesn't see my network but sees others) and sets my Power Options from custom(34C) to Performance(44C). When I run It on Balanced it jumps from 38C-44C

Not sure but when I change it from active to passive in my current plan my temp drops from 47C to 42. If I run under Power Saver it drops to 38C

yeah, i checked it out and when i hovered over the options it said something like the passive setting lowers the processor power before it activates the fans, and active turns on the fans before it lowers the processor power.

using speedfan 4.37

Mini9
windows 7
3GB ram
16GB SSD

49C temp 1
50C Core0
51C Core1

It does seem hotter with 7. I never got temps with XP.

I turned mine from active to passive and it dropped 5 degrees to what you see above in a matter of minutes.

These are my latest from today. Only difference from previous post's is today was 70f instead of the normal 62f. also have speech recognition on now as well as WMP and firefox and Chrome, and a gimp project so a lot of resources.
