Well, we know Win7Ultimate runs great on a Netbook, so I hope they don't decide to cripple the OS in some way to make the Netbook version cheaper..

From the article-
"The confirmation came during a one-on-one briefing at Microsoft's London offices this week. Although we can't confirm whether the 'netbook edition' of Windows 7 will be on general sale to consumers, we imagine it'll be made available only to netbook manufacturers for installation on new machines."

Hope not, I thought they were in the business of taking my money. Surely an upgrade will be available to xp users w/pre-existing netbooks. If not, add 1 more percentage point to Linux users, cuz dats where I'll be heading if they try and dick us on this.

That's the very reason I moved to Linux two years ago. Vista came out and I decided I wanted to upgrade my OS without having to pay for a whole new computer. In my opinion Ubuntu, themed and with Compiz - is far better looking than Aero will ever be, runs my machine faster than XP ever could, and its stable too!

I think a netbook edition would primarily just be cut down on the installation size for lower-capacity SSDs.

Assuming that the full version of Windows 7 is released at around the August 1 mark (when the public beta licenses expire), I'd imagine that the standard netbook SSD sizes would hit 16GB minimum. Still, a full fledged install of Win 7 would probably need space for page files, hibernation, etc., so you may be right.

How large is your Win7 installation with vLite?
