I am a few day old mini 9 user,, purdy red one for under $260 has a 16 gb SSD

My mods so far all cheapo:
$15 for 2gb crucial stick, the better one
$8 for a micro 8gb SD/USB
Installed ISO and tuned Win 7 .. typical stuff, chased drivers, no virtual etc
Using all the portable stuff from Firefox..

results ==== fast , cool and more room, boots quick and no mo XP .Net bugs
Now I can remote with my Win2008 dedicated and easy peasy trade files and admin that beast.

LOVE MINI n Windows 7

I would love windows 7 just not sure im technically able to install it. Can you upgrade it within xp or do you need to do a total install off a usb drive?

You cannot upgrade from XP to W7. The upgrade path is from Vista only (and Vista Ultimate for the W7 beta), but my experience with that on another system has not been good.

Installing Windows 7 is the same as installing any other version of Windows. The difficulty can be when you do not have a USB-connected CD-ROM drive available. You can copy the install CD contents to a bootable USB flash or hard drive and use that.

I installed W7 from an entirely XP OS previously, but had to dig quite deep to find a method to do so - I think a guide for XP users is in this forum.
