Default Windows 7 Gaming on the Mini 9 - 01-10-2009, 06:00 PM

Can anyone offer feedback on games you've installed on the Mini 9 running under Windows 7? What works, what doesn't work and any tweaks or mods needed to make them work?

Thanks!

WoW works, I have it on an external though, so its not a native install. It gets 20-30fps outside of cities, but it drops sharply to about 2-5fps in cities. (On lowest settings with v-sync off)

Does it work or is it actually playable?

Unreal, Quake, Doom, Doom 2 and Ultimate Doom.

Make sure you upgrade your video card drivers and don't use the default windows 7 or else if will give you error messages.

Warcraft 3 and WC3: Frozen Thorne work great... Running from SD card.

I don't play it, just wanted to see what it looks like so I got my friends install folder onto my external. It was really bad in the cities, so I would not call it playable. Not sure how much time one spends in cities when playing though, so outside of cities it was okay.

Upgrade to which drivers? Currently my device manager shows: Mobile Intel(R) 945 Express Chipset Family (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.0) and the Index scores it a 2.2 for graphics and 3.0 for gaming graphics.
