Default Dell Mini 9 W7 Home Premium - 05-11-2010, 12:00 AM

I am running into annoying issues...

Like for one the ethernet port acts funny (though its faster than my n wireless card).

Sometimes (a lot) pages don't load nor does the cache version..why this is happening I do not know.

Its much worse on my mini wireless Broadcom 4328 card (even on a draft n network!)

Is this a bad install of W7? What should I do? It shouldn't be like I am on dial up (even tough it is better than dial up but when you desktop is wired to same router and gets more up & down rate there is a problem).

I tried installing the lan driver from the drivers for beta in one of the sub cats here but it said will not accept vista driver or something.

What do I do?

I run Home Premium on my Mini 9 and it's been fine. What do you mean by "acts funny"?

Dell does not have any Win7 drivers for the Mini 9. I usually suggest that people look at the 10v list instead. But Win7 provides nearly everything you need for a Mini 9, including network drivers.

After installing Win 7 on my Mini 9 all the drivers were there and updated. It is almost as fast as my larger laptop running an Intel Duo.

The problems you are facing could have something to do with your router given that your ethernet also 'acts funny'.

dont use the drivers from dell's site... use the drivers from the respective suppliers.

Chipset = Intel
Gfx = Intel
Trackpad = synaptics

Etc Etc.

Default Webcam and drivers for Win7/ mini9 - 05-21-2010, 01:38 PM

I let windows7 find and install all the device drivers, loaded dell Webcam Central running in XPsp3 compatibility mode.

she's a no work..... software doesn't recognize device, but device manager recognizes and says camera device is working OK.

Question: What software and/or driver did you guys use to get your camera working in W7?

FYI:
Did more experimentation.... Windows 7 automatically loaded drivers for mini9 webcam are fine. Its the Dell Webcam Central that doesnt work. I downloaded and purchased Cyberlink 'YouCam' for $25 and everythings all OK.

Windows 7 loaded the device driver through Windows Update. It works fine in Skype and other applications that use a webcam. I never got the Dell webcam manager to work, but it's not necessary.

I think I had a similar problem to the original poster. Wireless & the ethernet connection would work sometimes & then it stopped working all together at one point, if that's what you mean by acting funny.

I thought I was seeing things at 1st--like maybe I thought wireless was working (because I was doing two different windows 7 installs at the time), BUT NO, I didn't imagine it.

After trying different driver installs, I found that I did NOT have a driver issue. I didn't have many problems on the computer yet, so I was really at a loss as to what it could be. I thought it might have been Avast Internet Security Suite, but that wasn't the problem....

To fix the sometimes-ish internet connections, I disabled ipv6 via the registry. As an aside, when I told a friend about going into the registry for it (because I KNEW wireless had worked before), he said it was dangerous, BUT it DID work for me! Wireless now works. I will check the ethernet connection with the next re-install, but I'm pretty confident it will work.

I got my info from the following sites:

A few successful fixes to Windows 7 Wireless Issues - Windows 7 Forums

How To Disable IPv6 In Windows 7

As with anything, be careful!

By the way, the router I use with my systems is a Netgear WGR614v6. On my HP TC1100 tablet where I also installed Windows 7, the old intel pro wireless 2200bg card had no problems connecting.... It was pretty puzzling....

I hope this is helpful.
