Default Installing apps that require more than 600 pixels under W7 - 01-15-2010, 09:22 PM

Hi,

Want to install power director but it requires 1024x768 minimun and we only have 600 (or is it 598 or something).

Anyway, there are tweaks for Mac OS/SL that trick the software and allow installs in a very useable way.

Are there any such solutions for Windows 7?

Thanks,
Sword

If it's only a one-time thing, like a button to click, then the easiest way (in my opinion) is to press ctrl-alt-right, which rotates your screen. Then you have 1024 vertical pixels and 600 horizontal pixels.

Gosh, there has to be a way of displaying the first 600 vertical pixels of a 1024x768 resolution on the 10v - whether or not it allows you to scroll down etc. Surely this is a relatively simple graphics display software utility (he says in complete ignorance!)...

Isn't this what screen magnifiers do?

The old video driver from Intel would let you do virtual desktops larger than the actual screen size. For whatever reason, Microsoft doesn't allow it in Windows 7.

I don't understand why you'd want to run adobe Photoshop cs3 or later. It think is wastes ram and ssd space, and doesn't provide that many upgrades (if any!) on a feature-to-performance basis.
I've been running adobe Photoshop 7 (yes, the one before cs!) ever since I got win7 installed, I'm very happy with it.
Also, you can get a legal copy of ps7 very cheaply, and the minimum requirements are these:
Quote:
Intel Pentium class III or 4 processor;
Microsoft Windows 98, Windows 98 Special Edition, Windows Millennium Edition, Windows 2000 (service pack 2), Windows NT 4.0 (service pack 6a), Windows XP;
128 MB of RAM (192 MB recommended);
280 MB of available hard disk space;
Color monitor with 16-bit color video card or higher;
800x600 or greater monitor resolution;
CD-ROM drive.
so you should have no problems while installing whatsoever.
