Default Will a Windows 7 Install DVD work on a dual boot Mini 9? - 10-14-2009, 12:08 AM

I have a working dual boot Mini 9. I have OSX 10.5.8 working great and that's my main OS.

Months back I also installed Win 7 beta and was very happy with it. I never bothered w/ the RC.

Now w/ Win 7 coming next week, I'm wondering how I'll get to the full version, which I plan to buy.

If I have the retail DVD, any issues using a USB DVD player, boot from DVD, and the install Win 7 on the existing Win 7 partition? That should work, right?

It will work, but you'll have some issues where you'll need to reinstall the bootloader, and then fix windows to boot properly. Check out the triple boot guides in the Dual Boot forum to get an idea of what you'll need to do.

Basically, it's reinstall boot loader, change active partition, fix Windows boot, change active partition again, pray that there are no major issues.

I am using Chameleon with DellEFI 1.2.

1) Should I just move to NetbookInstaller?
2) Would it be easier to move my beta to RC and then RC to release?

1) Probably the smart move in the long run.
2) It won't matter which version you install as they will both mess up the bootloader part and it will need to be fixed. No point in having to do it twice. Might as well just go with the retail copy once you have it.
