Vista Ultimate Upgrade Licence and vLite Install, How to use an 'upgrade licence' for a vLite fresh install

Anyone know how I can use my upgrade license with vLite install?

I can do a fresh install with the WIM file by formatting the disk etc but cannot figure out how to 'fool' Vista when using a vLited install. Obviously I do not want to install XP and then run the full upgrade as I want a nice clean install with no extra c**p
