The pain people had from Vista is more the "spyware, crapware" what is installed on al the machines. All kind of sponserprogram's whatsoever, which increase the performance of the machine. Dell is the best company in this case, they send a copy of Vista with the machine. So everytime I have a machine here, first thing .... > Clean install!

Vista runs just fine on 1GB RAM. In fact it may run better depending upon the RAM you unit shipped with. Many of the 1GB RAM sticks have a CAS latency of 3 or 4. I upgraded my mini to 2GB using a CAS 5 stick, and noticed that responsiveness slowed. Apps load faster with the 2GB stick, but overall response slowed down a bit.
