Default Wireless utilities - 05-17-2009, 03:57 PM

Maybe I'm picky, but it would be nice if the network manager would tell you more about the wireless networks available. All it tells you is the name and if it has security. I want to know channel, strength, security type and more. installed a couple utilities from synaptic, but wifi radar stoped working, wuci is good but takes over the main network manager and is slow to connect then. Others are either KDE tools or for the uber-1337. Anyone have any sugestions?

Ubuntu 9.04 NBR.

Good question... My "9" only gets used at one location right now, but will soon need to go to another location as well, and I'd like a more informative tool.

If nothing else, I want to verify that I am on the RIGHT network and not one "spoofing" the one I really want... if that makes sense?

(Ubuntu 8.0.4 - looking at 9.0.4... perhaps...).
