Default Can I change? Differences? - 04-30-2009, 07:46 PM

Ok, I have a few questions.

Is there any difference between Ubuntu 9.04 NBR and the standard distribution of Ubuntu 9.04? Would it be better to run the NBR on my Dell Mini 9 even if I wanted to remove the netbook launcher?

And that brings me to my second question:
Is there any way to remove the netbook launcher from my installed NBR distro, without installing plain 9.04? Would there be any difference whatsoever?

I tried removing all of the netbook launcher files using the Package Manager, as well as Maximus, but I couldn't do anything after that, so I decided to do an easy reinstall.

I think the differences are: the netbook remix is tailored for a USB drive install instead of a CD, and the extra packages, like maximus, the launcher, the theme, etc.

The base OS is exactly the same. The only difference with the UNR is some added packages for the netbook menu system and theme. You can take a vanila install and type "sudo apt-get install ubuntu-netbook-remix" and get the UNR. To uninstall, type "sudo apt-get remove ubuntu-netbook-remix" and the packages will be removed. I think your problem was trying to remove them independently.
