Default formating a SDHC card - 03-13-2009, 01:59 AM

do you know how to format a SDHC? Gnome Partition Editor doesn't see the card ?
I want to format mine in ext2

Sorry, English in not my first language :-\

Dell mini 9, runs on Ubuntu 8.10
(also owns an Aspire one, but well... :-)

That sounds like the card (or possibly partition table) is corrupted.

You can use a lower level app like fdisk or cfdisk to check.

sudo fdisk -l
This will list all hard drives inc any SD cards, giving the locations as /dev/mmcblk0 etc - just put this into the following;

sudo cfdisk /dev/mmcblk0
Then follow the instructions - it defaults to ext2 if you create a new partition (default single maximal partition ext2).

If it tells you there is no partition table, you can ask it to try and create a new one, but that probably means there is a problem with it.
