Default Battery discharging rate reported as 0 by Linux acpi - 01-26-2009, 08:41 PM

I am new to the dell mini and I have a question for you (searched around and did not find an answer). I noticed that linux acpi is unable to detect the present charging - discharging rate for my dell. If I execute:
cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT1/state
I obtain:
present rate: 0 mA

Similarly, invoking the acpi command I got:
Battery 0: Charging, 40%, charging at zero rate - will never fully charge.

Is this normal or I have a malfunctioning device?

My bios is A04 (but the same results were obtained with A01) and I have a stock kernel (I installed debian unstable).

Thanks in advance for your help

Not sure in your situation - but with the Netbook Remix / Dell Ubuntu, Aircraft mode will prevent your battery from charging.
