Do i need to first get the correct drivers for my inspiron mini 1018 to be able to install Ubuntu?

That shouldn't be a problem for you. You can try out Ubuntu without installing the OS to see for yourself. You can just Google Ubuntu & they have very good instructions on how to download the OS onto a flash drive or make a CD.
