hi all.. from past 4 days m trying to get ubuntu work on my dell mini 1010. first i have run it with built in windows 7.. ubuntu works fine.. after making bootable usb i tried to install it as my only O.S,, unfortunately i removed windows 7 bcz installation setup asked me to do so . now i can only b able to run ubuntu from usb .. installation always stuck on an error regarding cd missing or something ..
then i downloaded ubuntu 11.10 from ubuntu site and make start up disk from windows xp. it also didnt work for me. it hang up while booting . but works very fine at my friends desktop computer.. what is happening to me please help...

I am also having the same problem. When I try to boot into Ubuntu 11.10 from the bootable USB, it crashes during the load and I end up with only a linux prompt. Several months ago I was able to boot using Ubuntu 10.04 (with only standard graphic - not with high resolution of 1366 x 768 that is available on this computer). I will try going back to an earlier version now.

I don't know if Ubuntu has discontinued the GMA 500 support for 10.04 as I have been trying for the past week to install either the PSB drivers or the EMGD drivers on a new download of 10.04 using LinuxLive.

I have a SD/HC card with 10.04 and the PSB drivers on it that I made several months ago. But I wanted a backup in case something happened. I have tried each driver three or four times and they always return a error. The EMGD is a 404 error and the PSB says you cannot install the 3d driver because it needs the 2d driver and the 2d driver will not install.

I really wanted to stay with 10.04 because of the long term support (3 years). Now I am looking at other options. Mandriva 2011 does not have drivers for GMa 500 like the older 2010 version and the NetMud version does. Joli 1.2 still supports the 1010 with GMA 500 support; but it has not updated in several months. fdalbor
