Default Wireless network: Bitrate breakdowns - 01-20-2009, 09:36 PM

Dear community members, may I have your attention for the following issue:

After approximately 15 minutes websurfing in any wireless network I observe recurring birate fall-offs down to zero. The network connection itself remains stable and shows the full signal strength. It pauses half a minute before the normal speed comes back. That was the case with Dell Ubuntu and factory settings and goes on with Ubuntu 8.10 and the auto-loaded Broadcom STA wireless driver. IP address is obtained by DHCP and MTU value is set automatically.

Since I tried out different networks and Ubuntu versions, now I suspect the hardware to be buggy. Is there anybody else experiencing these temporary breakdowns? And do you have any idea how to explain or even to fix it?

And I thought it was just me. Sorry... no solution... just a me-too. I will test on my office network and see if it happens there too. I only really have experience from home
