Default ubuntu install problem, please help - 01-27-2011, 02:52 AM

Hi there. I am trying to install ubuntu 10.10 for netbooks on to my Dell mini 9 with 8 gig hard drive. I am installing from a usb stick.
It gets to the "preparing to install ubuntu-netbook" screen and then freezes. I can get it to boot live with the usb, but I can't install the program from there either.
I would appreciate any advise any one could share.

Usually if you can get it to boot live; it will display a option to install the OS to the hard drive from the live boot operations screen. You should just have to click on the install icon and go from there. fdalbor

Thanks for your reply fdalbor. Actually this morning I got it to load when I tried a different usb stick. Makes no sense to me, but it worked....
A verbatim store n'go, 4gb is the one that kept hanging, a Kingston DataTraveler, 2gb worked fine.
Don't understand it, but happy it worked.
