Default Mic on Lucid no longer working. - 09-07-2010, 11:04 PM

Hello all.

I noticed today that my built in mic is no longer working. I am running Lucid Lynx on Mini 10v. I recall it working before, though it might have been when I was running Karmic.

Can anyone try it out for themselves and see if their mic is also broken?

Also worth noting: I have un-muted the mic in alsamixer and played with the settings in Sound Preferences and still nothing has changed.

Boot off a LiveCD/USB and see if it works?

I tried booting off of my 10.04 live usb, and the problem is still there.

I just downloaded the 9.10 live cd and will give that a try next. I am almost totally positive that it will work just fine with 9.10.

EDIT: I gave it all a go with a 9.10 live usb and I got the same result: The mic is still not working. I find this very odd, as I am positive that I have had it working at some point in time under Ubuntu.

Can anyone else give it a go and report on your findings. I'd like to know, at the very least, if I am alone in this or not.

This doesn't solve your problem, but maybe you could test by plugging in an external mic.

I don't have an external mic, however I did use a pair of headphones to run this test. Yes, an external mic will work just fine.

I don't think it is software then, but... There is an awful lot about Ubuntu that I still don't know. I keep finding things that it does well. Lets hope reflex has a good idea.
