Default Upgrading Heron to Ibex? - 10-13-2008, 04:03 AM

The Mini 9 ships with 8.04, any ideas how easy/hard it will be to upgrade to 8.10, especially with Dell's modifications?

Dell Mini 9, 2GB RAM, 64GB SSD, 1.3MP camera, Bluetooth, Ubuntu 8.10

Ohh, good question. I think I heard that you can't just "upgrade" hardy to ibex, you have to reinstall or do some major upgrading. Someone correct me if I am wrong on that, please...

So what you might have to do is do a blank reinstall of ibex (taking care to do it in a way customized for a Netbook: no swap, for example) and then add on the Remix stuff, and then plug in the Dell Remix restore CD and see if you can install the Dell stuff on top of it all. You should call Dell and ask if it is possible: they should provide some way to install their stuff on top of an existing Ubuntu installation.
