So - my mini with the stock 8.04 Ubuntu is having some issues trying to connect to my wifi router. My wireless router is configured to use WPA (TKIP) and a hidden SSID. About 50% of the time, when the network manager tries to connect, my whole machine freezes. The other 50% I have no issues at all.
So - I was thinking about upgrading to 8.10 to help solve this issue (as well as the 1GB limit, use the netbook remix etc). I have the machine booting without issue off a USB drive with a 8.10 Live CD image. I tried to configure my wifi but each time I keep getting prompted for my password. I have tried with both the standard driver set as well as the proprietary drivers option.
So - the question is - is there something specific to the Live CD that will cause me issues? If I went ahead and installed 8.10, would I run into the same issue? Is the Mini using a different driver (I did notice the WL driver is enabled by default on 8.04)?
Also note, I really do not want to change my router configuration. This has worked without issue on several PCs, Macs etc.
Thanks in advance,
