lego, what was the solution please?
I just got a Dell Mini 10 with GMA500 and:
- ppa:gma500/ppa works 2D only, GL apps freeze with error, flash needs disabling hw acceleration and has choppy playback on fullscreen. need to select "notebook remix 2D" or some other session at login because otherwise the launcher freezes like the GL apps.
brightness keys won't work, nor brightness applet. xbacklight says there are no ports sopporting brighness. need to "sudo su echo 7 > /sys/class/backlight/compal-laptop/brightness" - but this won't work as a shortcut script for user.
- ppa:gma500/fix crashes when starting gdm, after seing for 2 secs a window with some chinese fleas in it
Now trying to install 9.10 instead of 10.04 because https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupp...eoCardsPoulsbo says they the GMA500 works in Karmic and I hope the brightness keys will work too!

b43 is a Broadcom WiFi driver.
The graphics driver for the GMA500 graphics in the 1010 goes by the name "poulsbo". Maybe this info about the GMA500/poulsbo graphics chip in Ubuntu will help you. Since I don't have a GMA500/poulsbo netbook, I haven't tried the procedures described there, but they hopefully work. Good luck.
