To be honest I am not sure. 8.04 is the version that Dell puts on its Linux Mini's but it was around before Dell made a Mini so I am not sure there is a USB boot version. Dell has to have a way to put them on the Linux Mini's they sell; but if it is capable of being booted from a USB drive I cannot answer as I am not sure.
I would get on the Ubuntu forum and post the question; if you don't get an answer there is always a call to Dell support. But to be honest I would use that as a last resort. If you have aready downloaded the ISO you can try to use unetbootin to transfer it to USB drive. I am pretty sure 8.04 is supported in unetbootin. fdalbor

I just came from the unetbootin web site and it does indeed support Ubuntu 8.04 LTS so that should take care of your problem of getting it to a USB drive. Good luck and I hope things work out. fdalbor

Unetbootin is a similar tool.
Some versions of Ubuntu (like Netbook Remix 9.04) have been offered as .img files, ready to be transferred to a USB drive. But not any version of 8.04 (the latest LTS release).
