Default Update to 9.10 big fail - 10-31-2009, 04:08 AM

Ok I updated tonight my dell mini10v to 9.10 netbook remix
interface loads incredibly slow you suffer to switch between tabs and so on.
strangely applications work fine (it seems) but when I start chrome browser touchpad stops working and I have to reboot to bring it back again.
you CANNOT switch to desktop mode anymore

So big fail stay on 9.04 if you want to spend a good weekend

any advice appreciated

I have installed 2 Mini 9 in the last couple of days, plus my Inspirion 1505, all of them are working fine. Did you do an upgrade or a clean install ?

I think there is a package you have to install now to switch to normal desktop mode. Look in App center.

I did an upgrade.
I don't dislike the UNR interface, I'd just like to see it working properly.
I think I'll stay on 9.04 until I have enough time for a clean install

You need to install the UNR desktop using Synaptic and then enable it within the start-up applications. The upgrade to 9.10 broke the UNR desktop for me, but doing this brought it back to life.

2 cylinders is enough, but 3 is a fine compromise

Desktop Switcher has been removed from UNR 9.10 and is not available to install either.

You said you did an upgrade? I did as well and just had issues on the system. I just finished a clean install of the UNR and it works way faster. Just need to get the WIFI working when I plug the machine in later.
