Ubuntu Netbook Remix (livecd on USB) Kernal Panic - 09-05-2009, 03:20 PM
I downloaded the Ubuntu 9.04 Netbook Remix img and I wrote the image to a USB as outlined here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/In...n/FromImgFiles (using the Mac OSX method - I'm doing this from my macbook).
I formatted the 1gb usb drive as FAT32 and MSDOS and followed the above directions.
After turning on USB legacy support I was able to get the Mini 9 to boot from the USB, I see the Ubuntu screen, select "English" and when I select "run Ubuntu without making any changes to your system" I get the kernel panic below:
[ 0.141700] ACPI: Aborted because junk in compressed file
[ 1.977646] Invalid compressed format (err=1)
[ 2.005050] Kernel Panic - not synching VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block (104.1).
I also get the same Kernal panic when I choose "check disk for defects".
Could this be an issue with the way the USB drive is formatted? I'm figuring since it boots it's probably not...
