Smile Linux Mint 11 (Gnome) - 09-27-2011, 01:22 PM

I have been running Linux Mint 11 (based on Ubuntu 11.04) with no problems since June of 2011. I have found no problems running it on my Dell Mini 9. I have 2 GB of memory and a 32 GB SSD.

What made you take to leap to Mint? I have thought about it as well, it gets great reviews too. 10.04 just has worked so well I am having a hard time changing. I have it on 2 desktops & my Mini 9. I probably will be upgrading when the next LTS is released.

I like Mint because it just plane works. No tweaking required. :-)

I know what you mean, it is hard to argue with something that works. I get so tired of fixing Win XP (it is not all XP's fault).

I like Linux Mint 11, it is an easy install and works well on my 10v triple boot. I initally tried Ubuntu 11.04 and I didn't like the Unity desktop. The response was sluggish too.

The only hardware issue was the WLAN card driver not initially loaded but after installation I could enable the restricted driver easily and everything was perfect.

I realize this is a somewhat old post, but I was actually planning on installing Linux Mint onto my Dell Mini once I actually get it. lol

I have Linux Mint running in a virtual machine on my Win7 desktop, and I like it a lot (it's a game changer )

Tried Linux Mint 12 on both my Desktop and Netbook platforms. Problems on both. The latest Ubuntu works on both. You may see a shift in the Distrowatch standings in the next 30 days. I think Mint rushed mint 12 out the door.

That is to bad, Mint has always been a good version (since I have been using Linux).

My latest craze is trying to record HD TV (OTA) using Mythbuntu. Looks like it will work & am going to order an HDHomerun from Walmart soon.

I'm running Mint 12 on my Latitude 2100 netbook just fine, though I'll agree that the new version has moved some items around in the menus, and simple tasks like creating desktop icons isn't as intuitive as in previous versions.

At least Mint did not go the way of Ubuntu in only providing the Unity GUI.
