Elnehi-

Thinix Touch is a shell replacement, not a normal application as most understand. The Gadgets will thus stay on top of the shell, the same as with the normal Windows shell (UI).

Interestingly, I also found that when I installed the latest windows update, the visual changes made by the Dell version of Thinix (enlarged scroll menus, etc) were all reversed.

If you wish to re-do the changes should be to run the program "Touch Customizations.exe" in the Thinix Touch folder. This is the app that makes those changes during install (if you select to do that when prompted).

Question Thinix for Duo Screws up icons and text Plz Help - 07-14-2011, 06:46 PM

Hey

I installed the Thinix software for my duo and it works fine but when I went to windows all the icons are screwed up they take up like 90% more screen size and the text at the top of a window or the red X is more than quadrupled their natural size on all resolutions. I tried all of the ways me and my dad know how to fix it ( and my dad has been the computer software repairman at my school for like 16-17 years ) except system restore. I would prefer to not use system restore as I like the thinix software and do not want to get rid of it on the same day i got it. But if it is the only way, I will do it as i did not pay for the software and am using the free trial.

Help would be greatly appreciated. If someone already posted a similar problem I am sorry for posting the same thing twice.

Thanks,
Jtay

Jtay-

When you install Touch it asks if you would like to run visual customizations, which makes the changes you are referring to.

If you would like to remove or adjust them please see this: Thinix - Knowledge Base - Industry Leading Touch Screen Solutions for Healthcare, Business, Hospitality and Consumers

Thank you,

I finally chose to get this after reading as many reviews as possible, and after an hour of use I decided to remove it. I really wished I hadn't installed it. I'm really sorry to say bad things about a very clever bit of software, and I am sure if you are using the duo for everyday tasks like email and may be watching movies this is great. I think the customisation functions are superb, but it's just so sluggish. As soon as I put ArtRage on and it took 3 seconds to render a drawn line across the screen I knew I had made a big mistake. I tried other simpler art packages, and they were worse. Gutted. I really wished I hadn't tried it as before I had quite a fast machine. Luckily I backed all my old configurations etc and uninstalled. Blimey it did quite a bit of altering especially to firefox after the uninstall- it was like everything was shouting at me. So I think I'll stick with rocket dock sevendex and the tweaks mentioned on this site. Shame as it looks really good, it's not the fault of the thinix software it's just the inspiron duo isn't powerful enough.

Hello -

Thinix Touch uses less resources when running than the normal Windows shell does, so not sure why you are having issues with speed. My guess is there might have beed an issue with installation. Touch does ask you when you install it if you want it to apply visual customizations, and if you select yet, it makes the bars around Windows bigger. When you uninstall it shoudl reset those to default. If there was an issue there you can reset the sizes manually. The instructions are in the Thinix knowledge base Thinix - Knowledge Base - Industry Leading Touch Screen Solutions for Healthcare, Business, Hospitality and Consumers

Thanks!

Many thanks, I really wanted it to work, and as I said before this is perfect software for emails and general tasks etc- but even though you say it uses less resources, and it probably does- those different resources must interfere with the art packages I use that probably rely on the traditional shell for them to work quickly. ArtRage became painfully slow and unusable, not Thinix's fault of course but I thought it is important for people to know about these risks. The firefox and menus shouting problem could have been a conflict with origami that was installed on the machine. Anyway it gave me a good excuse to do a complete reinstall of windows 7. All the best
