[Edited to include working link to NBI file] [04/19/13]
This guide will show you how to create a bootable OS X installation USB flash drive using your PC. (For use with Dell Mini 10v, and Dell Mini 9.)

If you are new to Hackintosh, check out this thread before you install:...

what step, or steps, are you having trouble with?

what model mini do you have? mini 10? or mini 10v?

Ok..

While in theory the Install media fits on an 8 gig drive, and if you had a Mac to prep it with it would suffice, In my trials using this method, the 8 gig drive did not work. I don't have an explanation for this, but I did try it and got the same results you are experiencing. Using a 16 gig drive works just fine (I'm not sure, but an external drive may work as well, but be mindful that it will be formatted, and you'll lose any data on it -- so back it up before attempting that route.)

BTW, the actual install is fairly straight forward, please let me know how you fare once you've succeeded with the USB Prep, because I am considering a step by step on the install process. You'll need to format your Mini's internal drive-- once in the installer, use Disk Utility --> task bar/ Utilities/ Disk Utility.

For reference, check this out, so you can at least see some screen shots of the installer and Disk Utility:
http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/dual...dual-boot.html

note, of course, that you don't need the external drive as an intermediate if you're using OS X as your only OS. You'll just install straight to your Mini's internal Drive.

You could also follow the second part of the gizmodo guide here: http://gizmodo.com/5389166/how-to-ha...eopard-netbook

If I write a guide it'll basically look like that. Skip the part about running the UpdateExtra. That's a bit outdated, I think.

Default Post Install instructions

Thanks for this...

If I have the 10.6.3 retail: What should I do after the first boot? Can you lay it out for me or link to the right instructions to get every thing working on my 10v?

Thanks

Everything should work just fine. Ocassionaly, there's an issue with sound. Usually running NBI (from the apps folder) will resolve it, and there's plenty of info on the forums. Also, sleep doesn't always work the way it should, so read up on that as well.

Only other thing is: read up on updating issues before attempting it. Doing a search for 'OS X 10.6.4,' will bring up the official update thread... Same for 6.5 and 6.6

Just finished install on my nickelodeon 10v. Used the following:
10.6.3 retail
2.5" 30 GB ext hd - NBI
3.5" 360GB ext hd - OS X

Only drives laying around my desk, worked great. We will see how the upgrades go.
Thanks for the instructions.
