Default The Best Current Root Software for Dell Streak - 03-28-2011, 09:02 AM

I have done a search on the above topic but i have found that most of the threads on this subject are based in 2010 .

i have just purchased a Dell streak from the UK. Its a retail version from Dell direct and is Sim free. It runs on OS 2,1 update 1.0 . Its build number is 10350.
How can i root this phone ? I can't seem to find any recent software or files for this build. Most of what i have searched are for AT & T phones or older UK O2 phones.

Which software shall i use and what files are necessary for a successful root.

Would appreciate any help or advice on the latest tools for my Build No: 10350.

Thank you

Hi Marvin02

Thank you for the applications and tips.
As i am quite new to this Dell Streak, i am still not sure it can root a UK phone with the Build No: 10350. Where do i get the files for this Build No. ?

Most of the apps for rooting do not mention this Build No. at all.

This is what worries me and i hesitate to take the plunge in case i brick up the phone.

Would appreciate your advise.

Thks

Rooting shouldn't brick anything, messing up a reflash / reinstall of the OS might. Rooting methods either just tend to work or not work (because whichever exploit they're using to do it have been blocked).

Hi Topdog,

Thanks for your reply. If I read your reply correctly it means that with my build no: 10350 and OS 2.1 update 1.0 it is not possible to root my phone as you mentioned as all the possibilities to root have been blocked.

Am I reading correctly or am i wrong.

In that case maybe thats why i cannot find any reference or files to the Build No. 10350 in any of the applications in Modaco or Xda websites. They all refer to older models and builds.

Would appreciate your advise and direction to take if i still wish to root the phone.

Thank you

i use superone click 1..7 but had to do it different than last time.

check the usb debugging mode
turn phone off
open super one click and check the raigeagaintthecage option on the right
then click root it will say searching for device
turn phone on and it will root during boot

i just did this twice tonight on 2 different dell streaks and it worked like a charm after many failed attempts. i think i found these instructions here or maybe xda.

Hi Oklahemi,
I have downloaded SuperOneClick v1.7
I have read the article by Shortfuse in Xda forums.
It says you need you need install and make sure all the Android driver files of the phone are installed . Installed where?
Where do i get this?
Then it says you need Microsoft.Net Framework 2+. I guess i can find this and install on the Pc using Win 7.

Do i need anything else. Or are all these in SuperOne Click?

please advise as i am new to this root Thing.

Thanks

I'm not the best techie but I think it means the abd drivers found on dell s site

ftp://ftp.dell.com/Handheld/R288920.exe

Install them onto your pc and follow instructions for the framework if you have a newer computer you may already have it. I hope this helps you
