Default alternating error messages - 09-07-2011, 02:02 AM

I posted an earlier problem regarding a failed attempt and got some good advice, so here I am again. I have been working at this for a while using 10.6.3 and 084RC1 and keep alternating between two error messages -

unable to patch 64bit kernal use arch=i386 . . .
and
BOOTMGR is missing

The only thing I am changing to generate the two different messages is the format of the entire SSD using Gparted off a live Ubuntu USB.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for the feedback for the kernel, however that seems to be a solution for an OS already installed. I can't seem to get past the initial boot off the USB flash drive to install OS X.

Any other thoughts?

Replace the kernel on the installer dvd/usb, as it does have a kernel.
