I...

Great post and i would like to add this please.

Make sure and remove these 2 screws (numbered 1 and 3 in picture) before trying to pry up the palmrest. Dont be a dumbass like me and forget them, it makes things harder.......

Probably not. Unlike with a CCF bulb, LED backlighting is directional. You might be able to add your own LED though.

i think i should mention this guide omits 3 screws necessary to take out before the palm rest will come off. the two mentioned under the rubber grommets, and 1 screw that holds on the touchpad under the back cover where the memory and ssd is.

I just installed my BT add-on using this guide and my only advice is to be extra careful when taking off the palm rest. I had everything popped out nice and neat and thought I had removed the last section at the front without issue. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had broken one of the tiny grey hooks on the palm rest. I managed to super glue it back in place. The only crappy part was after everything was reassembled, I must have had a very tiny speck (pin head) of glue on my finger because I got some on my 'T' button. I managed to scrap it off with a tiny flathead but I can still see a faint mark which is driving me nuts. Hehe.

I'm glad I checked the Dell site for the instructions too because I almost missed the two screws under the rubber feet.

Best tool I've found for lifting the palm rest off is a standard plastic ruler you buy at any store for 99 cents. Doesn't mar or scratch the case up and if it breaks you're out a buck!

So far I've used it on a majority of my mods without breaking anything.

Thank you so much. I just got my mini 9 back from Bestbuy...they had to replace the bottom cover and LCD screen, but damaged the top cover doing it. It's been back to the store three times! However, I got it back with something sounding loose inside and a small gap where the mouse buttons are. I really don't want to take it back for that because I'm afraid I'll get it back with something else damaged. It works great and your pictures helped me put my mini back together properly. Thanks again.

I would be demanding a new Mini from those jokers. That is just unacceptable from BB!
