Default Linux from scratch build on 10v - 10-24-2010, 05:34 PM

Hi, guys.

After about 3 days of work, I have finished building LFS on my 10v.

The Atom N270 actually handled compiling everything from source pretty well.
1 SBU is about '7m38s' with make -j1, or 5m31s with 'make -j2'

Not sure if I want to move on to BLFS (looks like a lot of work).
Might try something easier next, like Gentoo.

Attached is a picture of my 10v booting LFS for the first time. (Sorry. Bad camera, or bad photographer? Not sure which :P)

Has anybody else here built LFS on their Mini?

Ugh. Compiling big software, like the Linux kernel, Firefox or Mplayer, on real CPUs taxes my patience. I don't think I could take compiling EVERYTHING on an Atom.

But more power to ya.

Thanks guys.

I never finished the Gentoo build.
Maybe when I have a faster computer

The Atom is fast enough to build the minimal LFS system pretty quick, but once I started trying to add things like X, a desktop environment, web browser, etc, I got impatient.

So back to binary distros
