Well, as I wrote, peoples' experience varies. Some find they can't charge the battery at all while the Mini is running, but I can. I get the flashing lights when it is on battery power, but I've "solved" that by keeping a strip of electrical tape on the back of the 8-cell ready for application.

I don't know of a consistent way to use these batteries.
