You'll need to try older version 0.8.3), and hopefully have better luck with that. http://netbook-installer.googlecode....00.8.3.app.zip Cheers ![]() ![]() ![]() Please use my Dropbox Invite link: http://db.tt/4z2wwup |

![]() Now I'M confused, as your original post said:

If you now have 10.6.3 retail disk, this is the right guide, AND netbookmaker 0.8.4 rc1 is the right tool. The only other thing to make sure of is that the Mac you are using to prep the USB with is running OS X 10.6.0 or higher, as I said before. Personally, I have not had ANY success with .0.8.5 pre, so I don't recommend it, though I see posts all the time where people are using it without problem. Again, I'd stick with 0.8.4 rc1. ![]() ah-ha!
now it all makes sense. It needs to be RUN on a 10.6 or later! I always assumed that the prep machine was just a conduit for mashing the installer files into the OS, but it never specifies anywhere that it needs to RUN on a 10.6 machine when you prep it. I was running 10.5.8 all along ( I don't upgrade cause 10.5 runs faster on my machine), now that I upgraded and did it over it's all working great! almost done now, what an amazing little machine! thank you! ( I would recommend that you make that clearer in the guide, but most people would just install sno leopard on their machine first anyway, I just have an older mac pro that seems to like 10.5 better ) |

![]() Well, it does say a Mac running snow leopard upfront, I guess I'll put in the version # as well.

![]() So everything seems to be ok,
right after install I messed around a bit and everything worked, webcam, etc. then next day it seemed the audio functions are disabled. I did some searching around here and used this patch program called ALC 268 installer, and after restart it was bricked again so I had to re-install the OS to get it back to a "non-sound" working OS state. Do you know of any ways to fix the audio? I've seen that maybe I'm supposed to re-run boot maker or something. Can I do it right from this mini, or do I need to do it from a bootmaker on a separate flash drive? Any advice on audio fixing would be appreciated, and thanks for all your help so far. about the version info, you were indeed very clear, I just mean that it's not clear WHY you need to be running snow leopard on the drive copy machine and not just any os. Whenever people refer to the OS on the original machine it seems like it's only for speeds sake in copying the disks so I didn't bother upgrading my own machine the first time. You should just indicate that the bootmaker can only run properly in OS 10.6 so you must have it already installed on your working mac thats used to make the boot drive. Anyway, thanks, and let me know any audio tips if you've heard of this. |

![]() Sorry to jump in, but just in case Oscar isn't around I figured it couldn't hurt.
Normally you would want to run NBI from the Utilities menu immediately after you finish installing OS X, and before the mini automatically re-boots. It installs the Chameleon boot-loader, makes the custom DSDT.aml file and loads all the required kexts for audio, track pad, web cam, etc. If you can boot into the OS X install on the mini, there should be a copy of NBI in the Applications folder and you can run it from there. Just run it with the defaults that are checked if you aren't sure what they are or what they do. There is a thread in the mini 9 section regarding audio if you have already done all this and you still don't have audio. http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/dell...sound-mic.html I have 2 mini 9's and a mini 10v, and even having to patch the audio for the mini 9, it at least works for me every time I boot up, whereas the 10v it's like playing roulette. As far as needing to have SL on the machine being used to make the USB installer from, that was a decision made by Meklort, the developer of NBM/NBI. I would suspect it freed him up from having to write a lot of code having it only run on 10.6 machines, no worry about PPC code dependencies on older 10.5 machines, but I'm not a coder, so I'm not sure. I do know it is a relatively recent change and it is documented in the thread where he announced the release of that version of NBM/NBI. 10V | OS X 10.6.7 | NBI 20100616212351 |BIOS 06|160 GB|1 GIG RAM| 6 Cell Dell Battery Functioning Hibernation Back up Mini 9| OS X 10.6.7| NBI 20100616212351| BIOS 05 | 32 GB SuperTalent | 2 GIGS RAM |

i'll only add that these problems tend to be intermittent. many times you'll find that simply rebooting will fix them. i don't spend too much time on the trouble shooting threads because it seems different solutions fit different users, and i just plain don't understand why that is. to my logic, two people using the same hardware, having installed the same software using the same methods, should experience the same level of success, encounter the same difficulties, and have the same solutions. however, this does not appear to be the case on a hackintoshed mini. so the best i can suggest is to spend time reading the troubleshooting sections of the forum that pertain to your specific issues. i would also strongly recommend making a backup of your working system (to an external drive, or to a separate partition on your mini) before proceeding with major tweaks and changes--especially prior to upgrading. cheers. ![]() ![]() ![]() Please use my Dropbox Invite link: http://db.tt/4z2wwup |
