Default Trackpad problems with Chromium OS and Mini9 - 05-08-2013, 10:37 AM

Hi all...

I'm trying to installa Chromium OS on a Inspiron Mini 9.
I have two Mini 9, on one of them I installed months ago a Vanilla version from Hexxeh, and I had almost no problems (after I tried the April 2012 version from Dell, that had that bug in the internal disk installation)

Now I would like to install to another Mini9 the new April10 2013 release from Dell.
I created the bootable USB key with the April10 2013 image (but the Feb20 one behaves the same) and started the Mini9 from that. It works, but the touchpad is dead. The same thing happens on the other Mini9 (that works with the Vanilla version). If I connect an external USB mouse (that works) also the synaptic panel start to works, but only the cursor movement... none of the trackpad buttons works.
I googled and found many answers that suggested to check the X11 configuration files, but for what I see in the Dell builds the X11 files seems correct.

What else can I check to solve that problem? The April10 2013 image it's perfect for what I want to do with my mini9, but using an external mouse is not an option :-(

Many thanks in advance...

Sergio

I have the exact same situation, hope someone knows how to fix as all the X11 replacement scripts I found via Google didn't seem to work.

I just finished installing the April 10th image and have exactly the same problems and sequence of behaviours as outlined in you message. I have also tried to poke around a little bit, but to no useful effect. Any new thoughts?
Cheers & Thanks...

Default Same Trackpad Problem - 07-02-2013, 07:44 PM

Is this problem universal? My Dell Mini 9 was shipped very early on in their production roll out. Glad to hear that others are having similar problems, hopefully someone can help out...

Thanks & I appreciate any help!

Having the *exact* same problem with April 2013 build. System is useless without pluggin in a mouse...

Have tried a bunch of stuff but none of it has worked:
How to get the touch pad working in Chromium OS | ArnoldTheBats World of Whimsy

Is part of the problem that the existing file is named -dell instead of -cmt? Is the file called by name by something or just because it's there? I've tried renaming arnoldthebat's file to the dell name, no difference. But his instructions at least showed me the way to the file and how to make the filesystem writable...

I've also seen stuff about InputClass vs InputDevice, have tried changing that, when I do I get a black screen after the Chromium logo (though can still get to terminal, boots fine once changed back).

Tried this script too
, it also created the file as -cmt, no change, also tried renaming, nada.

Does anybody have their (early) Mini9 working properly as a Chromebook, and if so, HOW?

Thanks!
