Default A90 hackintosh doesn't wake up fully - 01-11-2012, 02:09 AM

Please read fully before flaming with "search xxxx forum".

I have a Mini 910 with A07 BIOS and a Vostro A90 with A06 BIOS. Both have stock 16GB STEC SSD, BT, 2GB RAM, etc...I think the only difference is that the Vostro has a webcam...

On both machines I:
Installed retail 10.6.3 SL
Ran 10.6.7 combo update
Ran NBI 2351

The Mini9 can sleep and resume repeatedly without incident. The Vostro sleeps but when it resumes I can't open any applications. Menus on the menubar will open (sometimes) but the mouse cursor is a beachball more often than an arrow.

Hibernate is set to 0 on both and they have the same BIOS settings (disabled USB Legacy and Wake). I even tried disabling BT on the Vostro.

BTW, I can close the lid and sleep the Vostro again (and then wake it up again) so at some level things are working still.

#1) Backup & delete /System/Library/Extensions/IOATAFamily.kext
#2) Run UpdateExtra (*** you must click the "Update Extensions" and wait for it to finish before rebooting ***)
#3) Reboot

Worked for me. Funny, I didn't find that until after I'd already posted my question after fighting with it for days.
