Lightbulb Is possible to upgrade processor on a Dell 1018? - 08-18-2011, 09:52 PM

Hi everyone,

I just bought a Dell mi 1018 without knowing is not the best product that Dell has on the market . Now I am wondering if is possible to place the processor Atom N510 which is a dual core one, and would be an improvement. Any other ideas on hardware or software improvements? Besides the ram increase?

no, it can not be upgraded, a larger disk drive and the 2gb of RAM... thats about it, the 1018 is a basic model of the 1012 with 1 less USB port and no mic jack which the 1012 has. sorry to burst your bubble dude.....

I heard good things about going with an SSD in a netbook. Keep in mind that these netbooks are extreme energy mizers. It would be best to get a dual or quad core laptop or desktop if you want some real power. The dell mini is awesome on battery life and unmatched in other regular laptops for battery life but unfortunately, the atom processor does not have super processing ability as the processor I believe only uses a whopping 2w as opposed to 10w+ regular laptop processor.
