Default upgrading from 10.6.2 to 10.6.7 or 8 - 09-13-2011, 07:20 PM

Hi everyone,

First off, thanks for all your great help on this forum!

I'm running a Dell mini 10v with OSX 10.6.2 right now and haven't upgraded in a while because it was so stable and looked like people had issues with 10.6.3. But I. Need to update java to at least 10.6.6 now.

Is it recommended that I update one version at a time using the documented methods? Or just skip straight to a 10.6.7 update? It seems like 10.6.8 might still have some kinks to work out before this noob should take that step.

Thanks!

I went from 10.6 straight to 10.6.7 with no problems. Pretty much, you need to do three things.

1. download NBI "Special" (ending in 2351)

2. Download the 10.6.7 Update Combo

3. follow these directions...

You need the special NBI on your hard drive.
place it on applications folder to have easy access.
run the special NBI;
select your hard drive name on the target;
check install chameleon 2;
check install mini 10v extensions;
check generate (or regenerate) system specific dsdt.aml;
click install button.
After it's done, close it, reboot your mini.
set the first boot device to your HDD, remove the USB stick attached, let it boots.
run combo update 10.6.7.
when update installation finishes, don't click restart when it prompts, run again the special NBI with the same settings as before.
after it's done, close NBI, and click restart button on the update installation window.
From what I've read, 10.6.8 just seems like too much of a pain to try for now...
