How bad is it is Dell Mini 1012 without hardware acceleration?

It's not that bad. Your video processing ability will go down, you can watch regular quality 360p YouTube videos just fine, but HD is a no-go for the most part.

Also things like the genie minimize effect are a bit laggy. Overall it is very usable though.

And the 1012 is not compatible with the nbi yet Right? I think I'll need extra efforts to do what i want to do with it. And in the end, 1012 is not as compatible as 10v counterpart. What part is not compatible?

my mini 10v died and dell is swaping it with a 1012( (should arrive in a few days)

do i need to do anything but clone the harddrive from the mini 10v to the 1012 and use the arch=i386

the specs are as follows:

What version of SL are you running? If it's 10.6.4, there is a 99% chance you will have to reinstall SL altogether.

I am planning to buy today Dell mini 1012 in India. Because we dont have here 1-v or mini 9 available.

Here you have discussed that video thing does not work with 1012. And this chart Mac OS X Netbook Compatibility Chart says, all works except sleep & video out.

So what should I do, shall i go for buying mini1012, is there any chance this GMA3150 issue will be resolved in future ??

I too, have just purchased a Inspiron dell mini10 -1012 and am wondering if it will work. According to the one chart @ Mac OS X Netbook Compatibility Chart
it will. I have been reading more now that it does but with video issues. I have a retail version of SL and I am running full 10.6.4 on my desktop, thanks TonyMac OSx86 team. With the retail version what all is entailed to install this on the dell mini. With tonymac's method it is using a boot CD and then inserting the retail CD. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I followed these instructions, http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/mac-...sx-mini10.html to install SL on my dell mini 1012 but it does not recognize my HD. Is there any other way of getting it to recognize the Hard drive? Any help is greatly appreciated!
